Power Battery Dismantling and Recycling Process

Power Battery Dismantling and Recycling Process: Includes pre-treatment, cathode/anode material recovery, and electrolyte recovery processes.

Pre-treatment

Pre-treatment involves discharge, dismantling, crushing, and sorting, aiming to separate components like the metal casing and electrode materials. Cathode material recovery primarily uses physical, chemical, and bio-recovery methods. Chemical recovery is further categorized into pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical processes.

Physical Battery Recycling Technology

This process involves recovering valuable products from spent power batteries – including electrode active materials, current collectors, and casing – through mechanical dismantling, crushing, screening, magnetic separation, fine grinding, and sorting. The reclaimed materials are then used for remanufacturing. The physical recycling workflow consists of two main parts: automated dismantling and regeneration.

Automated Dismantling: This extracts materials like cathode/anode powder, aluminum powder, and copper powder from spent batteries.

After discharging, mechanical dismantling yields waste electrolyte, nuts/washers, positive/negative terminal connectors, the cell core package, aluminum alloy casing, and rubber/plastic parts.

The extracted cell core package undergoes further crushing and sorting to obtain aluminum powder, copper powder, and cathode/anode powder.

Waste electrolyte undergoes dedicated recovery processing.

Other dismantled components are processed and sold back to battery manufacturers.

Regeneration: The recovered cathode powder undergoes composition adjustment. Both cathode and anode powders undergo material repair to produce reusable battery electrode materials for battery remanufacturing.

Following the direct physical separation of battery pack components, further processing via pyrometallurgical or hydrometallurgical recovery is typically required.
